Beyonce rules Super Bowl 2016
The queen is back on her throne! On Sunday, Beyoncé nearly caused a worldwide meltdown when she took the stage in a military-inspired blazer at the Super Bowl 50 halftime show in Santa Clara, CA. The singer blew the roof off Levi’s Stadium when she performed her new single, “Formation,” and then joined Bruno Mars and Coldplay for a groundbreaking show. On top of her earth-shattering performance, the singer also announced her upcoming tour, The Formation World Tour. Relive Beyoncé’s epic performance below.
A Political statement?
Beyoncé knew nothing about her Super Bowl performance being hijacked for Black Lives Matter protest
It was a grainy cellphone video and a picture that were seen by millions around the world.
But the full story of how Beyoncé was unwittingly dragged into a political row after having her Super Bowl performance hijacked by her dancers and activists can be revealed.
The star knew nothing about the decision by members of her dance troupe to join a protest by members of the Black Lives Matters organization on the pitch of the Levi’s Stadium about the death of Mario Jones until the video went viral the next morning.
Two determined political activists, angered over the shooting of the man by police, smuggled a dozen posters into the arena in their underwear and bags.
Global impact: The picture and video of Beyoncé’s dancers holding the Justice 4 Mario Woods sign and making a black power salute was seen by millions
Political: Beyoncé’s dance routine was clearly designed to evoke the Black Panthers and make reference to African-American issues – but it was not intended to be about the death of Mario Woods
Beyonce’s Super Bowl Near Fall
Beyonce’s Super Bowl 50 halftime performance was memorable for many reasons and one of those was her nearly falling while performing one of the many stunts she’s known to do while on stage.
Well, knowing the Internet is a bunch of savages, it didn’t take long for memes, GIFs and videos to drop placing her near fall among numerous hilarious backdrops. Perhaps the most famous of these was a video deeming her misstep as the “Beyonce bounce.”
The video is set to R. Kelly’s “Ignition (Remix),” but further remixed for him to repeat the word “bounce” as Bey moves across landscapes including past Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone, in replace of Super Mario and through jump ropes.
Beyonce, Bruno and Chris Martin?
They were supposed to be the headline act, but by the end of the Super Bowl 50 halftime show, Chris Martin and Coldplay were the laughing stock of the internet.
The world’s biggest and most-maligned band never stood a chance alongside “supporting acts” Beyonce and Bruno Mars.

It was Beyonce’s show, the internet decided, and boy, were they scathing.
With his multicoloured elastic bracelets, Martin looked like an awkward late addition to Beyonce’s fiery routine and Mars’ funky vinyl-clad troupe.
