Marty McFly Due Oct 21st 2015 & a message from Doc Brown
ITS THE 1st OF OCTOBER!! and that can only mean one thing in 2015.. the countdown till Marty McFly arrives of course! 21st Oct 2015 here we come!
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Back to the Future franchise, and Universal is celebrating with a swanky new box set. The set will be released on October 21, 2015, which happens to be the date Marty McFly and Doc Brown time-traveled to in Back to the Future Part II. So yes, we’re only weeks away from living in THE FUTURE. Where are my goddamn self-tying shoes?
“Power laces? Alright!” Marty McFly wouldn’t be so overjoyed if he knew how much those Nike “Mags” actually cost.
Online auction site Invaluable has put up an original pair from the production of Back to the Future Part II, and bidding starts at $30,000. Yeah, pretty heavy, right?
What’s more, they’re expecting the final bid to cap off around $50,000, a price tag that in some circles on eBay could actually get you up to three DeLoreans, depending on the seller you buy from. So, think about your future.
Still, these “Mags” were worn by Marty McFly himself, and as the auction insists, “These represent only the second pair of Nike Mags we have encountered and are the finer of the two.” What are you afraid of? If this thing works it’ll solve all your financial problems.
Or, you could wait until Nike delivers on their word and releases a line of self-lacing Mags themselves. After all, innovation chief Tinker Hatfield confirmed plans earlier this year to release the Nike Air MAG sometime in 2015.
But you could have them now. For only $50,000. What are you … chicken?
The Back to the Future anniversary set will include an all new short entitled “Doc Brown Saves the World,” in which the esteemed Doctor explains why the future seen in Back to the Future II hasn’t exactly panned out. He better have a damn good explanation for the lack of hoverboards. You can check out a quick teaser for Doc Brown Saves the World.
I have to say, it’s kind of amazing/strange that Christopher Lloyd is still playing the same old man he was 30 years ago. Of course, Lloyd was only 46 in the original Back to the Future. I just blew your mind, didn’t I?
So, what are you planning to do on October 21 when we officially enter a futuristic wonder world?
