AMY – Documentary Film
Amy Winehouse lived more in her troubled 27 years than most people do in a full lifetime. Now, four years after the singer died of alcohol poisoning, the documentary Amy will take fans behind the scenes of the rise and fall of one of pop music’s great artists.
Director Asif Kapadia, the man behind BAFTA-winning racing doc Senna, dives deep into Winehouse’s tragic story, a tease of which can be seen above. The video teaser takes us from Winehouse’s early days as a budding songstress through her emergence as a superstar — a rise the singer clearly never predicted, nor even desired.
“I don’t think I’m going to be at all famous,” she says in the trailer. “I don’t think I could handle it. I would probably go mad.”
Sadly, the words proved prophetic.
Amy hits theaters this summer.
I think it’ll be an interesting watch, it’ll put a real person behind that big name and talented troubled girl.
