Animators Code – Disney/Pixar secrets
Disney and Pixar have been hiding something from us for years in countless of their movies. We all have seen it many times without ever realizing it: The mysterious code ‘A113′. This hidden combination of a letter and numbers is everywhere. What is the meaning of easter egg, and does it really appear THAT often?
On a door in Monster’s University.
A113 is the classroom number at the California Institute of Arts, where many animators (including plenty who now work for Disney and Pixar) got their start. It was the classroom for first year graphic design and character animation, where many animators discovered and mastered their craft. Using the number in their movies is friendly nod to other animators that once shared a magical classroom where it all began. And that’s awesome.
I can’t wait to try to find the code in the next Disney/Pixar movie I watch!
